Frequently Asked Questions

Health & Safety Concerns

Why should I feed my cats RAWR Cat Food?

RAWR Cat Food by Purradise is a nutritionally complete balanced raw diet for cats. A raw diet is what a cat is biologically best optimised to process. As obligate carnivores, nature has designed their bodies to handle live prey, they absorb nutrients best from raw meat.

Why RAWR is the best diet for your cats:
– 100% Fresh and natural, high-quality protein
Better health and longer life
– More nutrition and energy for your cats
– Cleaner, fresher breath
– Reduced
stool volume and smell
– Silky soft coat, reduced fur shedding
– Lower risks of kidney disease and diabetes
– No grains, fillers, artificial flavourings or preservatives

Made from 100% natural high-quality protein from fresh chicken leg and breast, with bone, liver & heart grinded in to the appropriate ratios for a nutritionally balanced meal. RAWR is supplemented with Taurine (an essential amino acid for cats), salmon oil for a soft shiny coat, and Vitamin B Complex and Vitamin E for a complete nutrition to a cat’s dietary needs.

All our ingredients are human-grade. No grains, fillers, artificial flavourings and preservatives are added. We strongly believe in feeding the healthiest and safest food to all cats.

Is feeding my cat raw meat safe?

Yes, it is what nature has designed their bodies to handle. The cat’s highly acidic stomach kills harmful bacteria.

The cats at Purradise Cat Café have been fed a raw diet (RAWR) for over a year, come take a look at their condition and decide for yourself 🙂

What about parasites in meat?

Our raw meat is frozen for at least 48 hours before delivery to ensure any possible parasites in the meat is dead.

What do you mean by “human grade” meat or supplements?

By specifying that we use “human grade” meat and supplements, you know that our ingredients have passed the strict tests and regulations to allow them to be fit for human consumption.

Ingredients not listed as human-grade may not meet the necessary health and safety regulations, which means it may be harmful to your pet.

Can kittens be fed raw meat?

Yes, they can! As long as they can eat solid food, they can consume raw meat.

Would the bones damage my cat’s mouth or stomach?

No, the raw bones are soft, so it does not splinter into sharp edges. We also grind it to be very small so it won’t get stuck in teeth or cause any damage.

My Vet says I should not feed raw meat

Vets are trained in healthcare, not necessarily nutrition. Most vets do not get complete training in animal nutrition, and many are sponsored by pet food companies, creating a conflict of interest.

Ask your vet why a balanced raw diet should not be fed, you will not find a compelling reason. There are many vets who’ve studied nutrition to a greater extent and would recommend a balance raw diet for your cat.

My vet says I need to feed dry food to clean their teeth

This is a myth. Eating dry food to clean their teeth is akin to you eating biscuits to clean yours. Your teeth never feels clean after eating biscuits, so how does that make your cat’s teeth clean?

Raw meat is better at cleaning their teeth, as the fibrous meat acts as a toothbrush.

Are the ingredients Halal?

All of our ingredients and meat come from Halal sources, and we only use human-grade meat and supplements.

Feeding Guide

How much should I feed for RAWR?

General guideline is that you should feed about 3-4% of your cat’s body weight (daily), as shown in this table:

Body Weight Daily Intake
2 kg 60 – 80 g
3 kg 90 – 120 g
4 kg 120 – 160 g
5 kg 150 – 200 g
7.5 kg 225 – 300 g
10 kg 300 – 400 g

For kittens, feed 5-6% of your kitten’s body weight per day.

This will differ from cat to cat depending on their activity level. The best way to decide is see how much they eat and if there are any left overs. Left overs means you’re feeding too much, and if the plate is licked clean, you should increase the portion little by little until you see some left overs.

How often should I feed my cat in a day?

Scheduled feeding of 2-3 times a day would be recommended.

How long can I keep the food in freezer or refrigerator? How about expiry dates?

Expiry dates are written on the package, the raw food should be stored frozen in freezer. Raw food can last between 3-6 months in frozen state. Once thawed, the food content can be kept in refrigerator for 2 days.

Once the package is opened, it is advised that the food content to be consumed within the same day.

How do I prepare the food?
  1. Food should be stored in freezer.
  2. Thaw in refrigerator one day before food is served.
  3. Tear open the package upon serving. Food can be served chilled or room temperature. DO NOT COOK. An easy way to warm the food to room temperature is by pouring some hot water (about 15ml to 100g of meat, around 80 celcius) on the meat. Be careful NOT TO COOK the meat in the process.
  4.  Leftover food MUST be discarded if not consumed within 30 minutes after serving.
  5.  Once the package is opened, it is advised that the food content to be consumed within the same day.

My cat isn’t eating RAWR

Your cat is likely used to its current food which is loaded with flavourings and preservatives. Like trying to get a kid off fast food, it will take some time. If they’re on dry food, they may not be used to the texture.

You may also try warming the food to room temperature, be careful NOT TO COOK the meat in the process. An easy way to achieve this is by pouring some hot water (about 15ml to 100g of meat, around 80 celcius) on the meat.

My cat is currently on dry food, can I feed RAWR? How do I transition my cat to eat RAWR?

Of course you can! You may just need to transition them slowly as they will not be used to the texture and flavor of the food. You can do this by introducing a bit of RAWR into their dry food and see if they’ll eat it.

If they don’t, then try mixing in commercial canned food first. Once you switch them to canned food, you may mix in RAWR with the can and adjust the ratios until they’re fully on RAWR.

My cat is currently on wet food (canned), can I feed RAWR? How do I transition my cat to eat RAWR?

Of course you can! Try feeding them RAWR directly first to see if they take up on it. If not, mix in a bit of RAWR into their wet food at each feeding, slowly adjusting the ratio until they’re fully on RAWR.

My cat feces is wet after eating RAWR

This will be normal for the first few days, as their stomach has to get used to processing the raw meat. Once their stomachs adjust, their feces will become small and dry.

My cat vomited after eating RAWR

This might happen in some cats as their body is too used to eating processed food. You will need to transition them slower than usual, and add some yogurt or probiotics to help create the right stomach environment to process the raw meat.

Fat 10.7%
Carbohydrate 8.8%

Isn’t cooked meat better?

No, cooked meat destroys many of the nutrients in the meat. Taurine is especially sensitive to heat, and is an essential nutrient for cats.

Why not add rice, fruits or vegetables?

Cats are obligate carnivores, which means they can’t survive without meat. Their stomach does not process plant nutrients well. They have no need of grains, fruits or vegetable in their diets.

Would my cat become fiercer on a balanced raw diet?

No, it is a misconception that feeding cats raw meat will cause them to become more bloodthirsty or violent. They will continue to be the same loving cats you know, just with a lot more energy!

Can I make my own raw food at home?

Yes you can, however it is difficult to make sure it is balanced and complete. You will need to know the correct ratios of bone to meat, as well as find sources for the various supplements to ensure all the nutrients are balanced. Why go through the hassle when you can order RAWR by Purradise!
